With more than 50 Years of service excellence, (established in 1961), Park Care Centre in Parktown, Johannesburg, continues to provide quality 24/7 residential holistic nursing and palliative care to a large capacity of up to 320 physically & mentally frail and/or older persons who are in need of long-term nursing care, irrespective of race, language, income, religion, colour, or culture.
In 2005, the name was changed from “Die Witwatersrandse Tuiste vir Bejaardes” to PARKSORG SENTRUM /PARK CARE CENTRE. In addition, Park Care also extended its professional services through a Community Home Based Care Development Programme in Vrededorp, Johannesburg, (initiated and sustained by Park Care Centre since 2011), serving a diverse group of 180+ Elderly within this disadvantaged community with Home Based Care services.
Park Care Centre continues offering its services to countless vulnerable frail and needy older persons at the Centre in Parktown, and in addition, boost the Home Based Care Development project in Vrededorp. Park Care continues extending its exceptional 24/7 holistic and palliative nursing care services to numerous individuals throughout Gauteng, at times persons from other provinces, and on occasion accommodating even foreigners from other countries, but the Centre is progressively compelled to require external networks for adequate support.
All personnel work with passion and loyalty. Although many sympathetic ears, along with visits and treats often exerted, it is repetitively noted that vulnerable old, frail sick people are most often not considered a priority in general, especially in terms of funding, sponsorships or partnerships and other support for to maintain and/or improve on services provided.
Everything done here at Park Care Centre is done in order to offer all Residents a top-quality way of life and standard of living at Park Care Centre. Entirely everything is invested for the well-being and benefit of its Residents, warranting an enhanced (holistic & palliative) lifestyle to every Resident and to ensure that this place continues its’ much needed and significant life-saving professional nursing service, providing a haven to many - God Willingly, for a long time.
Sad reality is that there are not many affordable places available anymore.
Rehabs and Clinics charge in 2 or 3 days what we charge for a month’s accommodation, yet we offer the same service in terms of nursing, if not even better at times. And, we also offer rehab services at our own expense, when there is no medical aid available. Park Care Centre synchronizes beyond the expected to enrich the life of residents, including daily counselling, caring activities, benevolent concerts and events, etc. Please trust me when I say that this is not standard practice at other homes, and yet, we still always strive to improve on the professional services we provide.
Park Care Centre is at present known to be a Specialist Frail Care Facility offering 24/7 holistic and palliative residential nursing care to mainly chronically sick, physically and mentally frail persons.

Where other rehabilitation centres and clinics charge in 2 or 3 days what we charge for a month’s accommodation, we continue to offer the same service in terms of nursing, if not even better at times. Rehab services are also offered at our own expense even when no medical aid is available. Park Care Centre sets its boundaries beyond the expected, to safeguard a quality life of residents – be it in their last days or not. Also included are daily counselling, caring activities, benevolent concerts and other events etc. Please trust me when I say that this is not standard practice at other homes, and yet, we will still always strive to uphold the standard of excellence and improve (where possible) on the professional services we provide.
The reality of South Africa’s economic climate is that there are now less affordable places and professional services available to the frail and elderly. Therefore, the Centre is progressively engaged in requiring external supportive networks and substance groundworks to adequately supply in its endeavour to effectively pursue its practice....
Your support for Park Care Centre is of immeasurable value and worth!
New doors for further progressive opportunities of support that will respectively substantiate the indispensable and warranted continuation of this fundamental Residential Nursing Care Facility is much needed – safeguarding the high standard quality service we offer, retaining, nurturing and fostering Park Care Centre as an indispensable Establishment.
Sympathetic ears, visits and treats are often received, but, it is repetitively noted that when the vulnerable old, weak and frail sick people are mentioned, they are most often not even considered for support, funding, projects or even universally listed as fortunate beneficiaries by companies, businesses, individuals or other factions. These frail and elderly are most often the forgotten and forlorn.
It is sad to say that it was this older generation who raised children (the generation of this day), who worked hard, and built infrastructure in our country, who contributed considerably to our society. Yet, it is them who are now seen as those who have seemingly passed their season of usefulness, it is them who are now mostly marginalized by today’s society where predominantly the young, strong, healthy, wealthy and popular matter. After many years of being retired & not working, savings become near insignificant due to inflation, unforeseen circumstances and other situations that also greatly unsettle the consensus of prosperity of this older generation, as is so often witnessed here at Park Care Centre/ Park Sorg Sentrum.
